MEDICINE CIRCUS
|
Medicine Circus is a four piece, all original, alternative rock band from Salt Lake City, Utah. Industry professionals have compared their sound to such great bands as Queens of the Stone Age, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Coldplay, Alice In Chains, & Led Zeppelin.
The band formed in 2001 and has been going strong ever since. They have songs featured on X-box’s top selling action snowboarding videogame, "Amped 2" and their music receives regular airplay on many radio stations throughout Utah (including many college stations). They have appeared and performed on television, opened locally for national touring acts, won many awards, and have tons of positive press. Their song inventory rivals that of the pros in quality, content, & magnitude.
Medicine Circus is a band that focuses on three things. WRITING incredible songs that you can’t get out of your head, RECORDING great albums that you’ll want to listen to over and over, and PERFORMING amazing live shows that will leave you wanting more. With explosive, passionate, & dramatic performances happening regularly across the state, their following continues to grow larger with every show.
Medicine Circus is constantly evolving and never satisfied with the status quo. They are currently supporting their latest release, entitled "Cinder And Ashes", which is receiving rave reviews from all that experience it.

My top five albums at this time are as follows. (And I always consider what I’m listening to at the moment to be what is influencing my songwriting.)
- THE BEACH BOYS - Pet Sounds
- BOB DYLAN - Blond on Blond
- THE BEATLES - Abbey Road
- THE BEATLES - Revolver
- THE BEATLES - Rubber Soul
Another influence of my songwriting is the general music and composition instruction I am currently taking from my music teacher Tully Cathey, whom, might I add is an awesome teacher.
If anyone out there really cares about my history in other bands and wants to know anything that isn’t already listed in the rest of our website feel free to e-mail us, or me using the address given and I or we, will gladly respond as soon as possible.
I would also like to say I am flattered you are reading my bio. In fact more than flattered, overjoyed and I would just like to thank you for your interest in our band. It is my sincere desire to write and perform music that is interesting and inspiring. (As if there's not enough that exists already!)
We are hard at work trying to give you the coolest ideas we can think of. I hope I can find a connection with you. See you soon.
With Love, Christopher.

Hey everyone, thanks for checking out our web site. Christopher and I met through an add at a local guitar shop and ever since then we have been making some really solid tunes while trying to bring back more heart and creativity in the rock music format.
Some of my major influences include the following artists: My Bloody Valentine, Cursive, The Zombies, Earth Wind and Fire, Steely Dan, The Psychedelic Furs, The Cars, Interpol, and all other soulfull music.
When I'm not rocking out with the boys in Medicine Circus, I like to go to the park with my best friend and my dog Pigtank or just go sit by the river and "watch the game". Anyways, I am so happy to be in Medicine Circus and I want everyone to know that we will always do our best to bring you songs that are meaningfull and creative.
Please feel free to contact me at anytime, I love hearing from people and I am more than happy to discuss any details of our music that intruigue you.
Take it easy! Ben

Thanks for checking out our website and my bio in particular. We have a new album coming out November 2006 and I am super stoked for it. It is our best stuff ever by far. Extremely strong songs and some great production. I hope you all really like it.
In the way of personal musical & drumming influences, some of mine are Eric Kretz (Stone Temple Pilots), Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters, QOTSA), Chris Peterson (Sunfall Festival), William Goldsmith (Sunny Day Real Estate, The Fire Theft), Jake Smith (Royal Bliss), Josh Freese (The Vandals, A Perfect Circle) & Phil Selway (Radiohead).
I play a "Black Velvet" 4 piece DW drum kit with all DW hardware and Zildjian Cymbals. I prefer Vic Firth sticks...but will use whatever is handy (and not broken). For more than you ever wanted to know about me, you can check out my "myspace" page here.

Justin - Bass

Hey everybody! Thanks for checking out my bio. I come from a heavy classic rock/alternative background. Bands that inspired me to start playing include: AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Soundgarden, Green Day, and The Offspring. Basically anything that made music seem fun! I have played guitar off and on since I was seventeen, and have only fairly recently switched to bass, but I LOVE it!
As for my gear, I play a Fender Mexican Jazz bass through an Ampeg B1RE head into an Ampeg 410 cab. I play Fender heavy picks (Yes, I’m a pick player) and DR Hi-beam 45-105 strings. Stear has got me hooked on George L. cables.
For fun, I am big into video games (and have been an almost lifelong Nintendork, although I play other consoles too), am interested in classic cars and model railroads, and am a total Myspace whore!
